Talamatra Accelerates Operations by Migrating Platform from Azure to AWS

About the Customer

Talamatra is a technology company delivering smart management solutions that transform business operations across industries, particularly hospitality and retail.

Through the Talamatra Suite, the company provides an integrated platform designed to drive operational excellence, cost efficiency, and revenue growth. Trusted by leading businesses, Talamatra focuses on scalable, high-performance digital platforms to support mission-critical front-office and back-office operations.

Customer Challenge

Talamatra faced increasing challenges in scaling its platform to meet growing demand from hospitality customers while maintaining high availability, performance, and user experience.

Key challenges included:

  • Limited Scalability and Flexibility – The existing cloud environment constrained the ability to dynamically scale workloads during peak usage periods.

  • Availability and Performance Risks – Growing transaction volumes increased the risk of service disruption and slower response times.

  • Expansion Constraints – Without migration, onboarding new customers and expanding into new markets would be difficult, potentially limiting revenue growth.

  • Operational Overhead – Manual infrastructure management diverted engineering resources away from innovation and feature development.

  • Competitive Pressure – Slower deployment cycles and infrastructure rigidity reduced Talamatra’s ability to maintain a competitive edge in hospitality technology.

Talamatra required a modern, scalable, and cloud-native platform that could support variable workloads, ensure low latency, and simplify operations.

Partner Solution

Working with PT. Innovation Cloud Services (ICS Compute), an AWS Premier Consulting Partner, Talamatra implemented a dual-architecture migration and modernization strategy on AWS to address both scalability and operational efficiency.

Hybrid Migration and Modernization Approach

To best support different workload characteristics, the solution combined virtual machine–based and container-based architectures:

Back-Office and Financial Workloads

  • Migrated from Azure Virtual Machines to Amazon EC2.

  • Database transitioned from Azure Database for PostgreSQL to Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, providing managed availability, performance, and backup capabilities.

Front-Office and Reservation Workloads

  • Modernized by migrating from Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) to Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).

  • Container images were moved to Amazon Elastic Container Registry (ECR).

  • Public application access was secured and optimized using AWS Elastic Load Balancing (ELB), replacing Azure Load Balancers.

Architecture Decision and Optimization

Several approaches were evaluated, including lift-and-shift to ECS, full containerization, and hybrid deployment. Kubernetes on Amazon EKS was selected due to its ability to:

  • Automatically scale reservation workloads during seasonal and peak demand periods

  • Eliminate idle infrastructure costs through on-demand scaling

  • Reduce operational complexity by leveraging fully managed Kubernetes services

  • Accelerate feature delivery by allowing Talamatra’s team to focus on development rather than infrastructure management

The AWS pay-per-use model significantly reduced costs compared to always-on compute resources, while meeting availability and recovery objectives without extensive custom engineering.

Results and Benefits

The migration from Azure to AWS enabled Talamatra to operate its platform on a scalable, high-performance, and secure cloud foundation, delivering measurable business and technical outcomes:

  • The project was executed based on comprehensive information gathering and technical assessment

  • All deliverables were completed within the agreed scope

  • Project deliverables are fit for purpose and aligned with business requirements

  • Non-functional requirements were met, including scalability, stability, availability, and performance

  • Security, logging, and monitoring operated effectively, as validated through testing results

  • Integration with third-party systems ran smoothly with low latency and no processing queues

  • End users experienced application access latency below 50 ms

  • Front-office and back-office applications successfully ran and operated on the AWS environment
